Radio protocols
Common radio communication includes Bluetooth and WIFI, which can carry lots of data, although are limited on range.
These protocols can be energy infficient and are not usually considered for devices running on battery power.
LoRa has the ability to transmit over wide areas and can access national networks, but would not be suitable for streaming large amounts of data (e.g. video feeds).
It is relatively economical in terms of power consumption and is ideal for remote devices relying on battery power.
Such device, mesh networks usually connect (via a daisey chain connection) back to a wifi enabled 'Gateway', that can upload data to the cloud.
